Wingshooting Season at Brays Island

October 15 marks the beginning of quail season at Brays Island. Winter temperatures in the Lowcountry typically range between 40 and 60 degrees, which is perfect for upland bird hunting yet temperate enough to spend an afternoon on a flats boat in pursuit of redfish. Brays Island’s climate is nearly as important as its unmatched location and unique land plan, making Brays the most desired outdoor community on the Eastern Seaboard.

Brays Island owners have access to professional hunting guides during the season, as well as pointing and flushing dogs that are always ready, thanks to on-site dog trainer and National Bird Hunters Association hall-of-famer Scott Miller. Many owners prefer the option of time afield with their own bird dogs. 

In addition to upland hunting, Brays Island shooting amenities include a 15-station Holland & Holland-designed sporting clays course, FITASC, skeet, trap, and 5 Stand to help owners hone their shooting skills year-round. The Brays Island pro shop is fully outfitted with shotguns, apparel, and supplies for both shooters and hunters. Private instruction is available at the Gun Club, as is gun rental, storage, cleaning, and repair. In other words, Brays Island has it all.
