Together with their core management team, General Manager Jeremi Syron and Marketing Manager Karen Syron have been expertly overseeing wingshooting operations at Flying B Ranch, in Idaho, for the past 18 years. We asked them to share some details behind the warm, community-like atmosphere that sets the “B” apart as an upland bird hunting lodge, and they were happy to share some interesting facts about the one-of-a-kind destination.

Did You Know?
Flying B Ranch spans 5,000 acres in northwestern Idaho. The extensive operation is run by a close-knit staff that includes five department managers, 12 hunting and fishing guides, two chefs and 40 gundogs (most of which are German shorthaired pointers). Most of the managerial staff has been serving on-site for nearly two decades—to the point that Flying B has the feel of a family-run operation.
The rustic log lodge was constructed in 1994 and recently underwent significant renovations to update its guest rooms and common areas. During the renovation, the owners focused on preserving the welcoming family atmosphere for which the lodge is famous.
The main lodge encompasses 14,000 square feet—plenty of space for its 14 bedrooms and common areas—while the B’s additional ranch house provides five more bedrooms, two living rooms and a full kitchen for families or groups of friends to enjoy their own private accommodations as well as the lodge’s common areas.
While the vast majority of the B’s business is wingshooting, the ranch also offers an excellent big-game hunting program for free-ranging species such as black bear, mountain lion and elk, which are pursued on both ranch property and nearby national forest land.
For non-shooting guests, the Lawyer Canyon area offers many natural attractions, and the staff at the B will gladly arrange additional activities including massages, winery tours, private yoga classes and visits to the Jack O’Connor Hunting Heritage and Education Center.

Chef Ryan’s pheasant enchilada lunch is a lodge staple. Upon check-in, many guests will specifically request that it be served because they have been waiting for it all year!
